Yes indeed; one of the best Christmas gifts I ever got when I was a teenager was a black leather jacket my mother bought for a steep discount at an after-Christmas sale one year when I’d gotten no gifts whatsoever on the day itself. I’ve still got that jacket, and still wear it from time to time.
Ironically, my best gift this last Christmas (when I’m more than twice the age I was then) was getting nothing at all, because my room and my family’s whole friggin’ house are both too cluttered with various knick knacks already. ‘Tis better to give than to receive, indeed!
