#1,235 Lyricality

  1. All these variations on the refrain to Boston’s famous song make me think of some of the supposed “rejected opening lines” for Joyce Kilmer’s “Trees” poem:

I think I never may discern
    A poem lovely as a fern…

I think that I shall never glance
    At poems lovelier than plants…

It would require, I think, much practice
To write a poem lovely as a cactus…

    1. You ought to hear my variations on the chorus to Heart’s “Alone,” or alternatives to stepping on my blue suede shoes.

      1. Those weren’t the actual lyrics? Had me fooled.
