My dad never got tired of telling his story about an old Detroit-area radio host with a call-in show. He was the usual sort of unstoppable chatterbox, and for the occasion he was taking calls about the pros and cons (mostly cons, this was a radio call-in show after all) of Daylight Savings, which was a fairly-new thing at the time.
And then, over the phone, came the voice of a woman who complained:
“This extra hour of daylight is burning out my lawn!”
And the host had absolutely nothing to say to that.
