In his memoirs, I remember Jeff Foxworthy once mentioned that when he was just starting out on his own as a young adult, he had a “rummage sale” something like this. When one of his roommates (who’d been a real BS artist) flew the coop after failing to pay nine months’ rent, and Jeff started getting calls from people complaining that his former roommate owed them money, he suddenly realized that the guy had left behind a lot of valuable possessions he’d evidently bought with the rent money he’d embezzled, and invited all those creditors over to come take them in compensation. Jeff had to clear out himself on that weekend before the marshals arrived to evict him on Monday, but thanks to throwing that little farewell pillaging party, at least he didn’t have any trouble with his former roommate’s creditors trying to collect any debts from him.

So I’m stealing material from Jeff Foxworthy. 🙁
