I do remember that in Orson Scott Card’s Alvin Maker fantasy series, there was a character known as a “Spark” who learned at a very young age that he had to keep his magical ability (the ability to concentrate lots of heat into a single focal point with his mind, thereby starting fires) a secret, lest he be blamed (and lynched) for accidental fires, e.g. some naughty and negligent young boy accidentally igniting a barn while secretly smoking his father’s tobacco pipe out behind it.
