Curiously, I’ve never had that “Your parents are actually monsters” nightmare. I did just recently have one of those paranoid “can’t trust anyone because they might turn out to be the enemy” dreams, though; it was kind of a cross between several movies from the Terminator franchise, and the original version of The Thing.
Well, I could’ve linked you to Paperhouse (1988), I suppose: also a tale about a nightmare in which a girl’s father turns out to be a monster. (By the end of the film, though, I got the impression that he was actually a good father and her fevered dreams weren’t being at all fair to him.) It’s definitely worth a watch if you can somehow get your hands on a copy.
