#267 Elephantine Concerns

By the way, in checking while mammoths were indeed a genus, I found out some surprising facts. We often think of mammoths and mastodons as close relatives, much as African and Asian elephants are.  Instead, I found the following cladogram on Wikipedia: 2014-01-24 05_59_49-Mammoth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Stegodons and gomphotheria, by the way, are other extinct probiscideans:
