I actually lifted it from a line in the unintentional comedy Che https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Che!_(1969_film) (with Jack Palance ! as Castro). I just updated the diseases.
The conditions to compare is always the hard part, though. I’ve often used “two broken legs” vs. “cancer,” but I like yours better.
