From the reaction there, I take it Carl was saying that the same way you say “Seems legit” over at Lousy Book Covers whenever a cover to a book pushes a dubious conspiracy theory, get-rich-quick scheme, self-help program, or the like.
Eh, there’s always someone like him somewhere; my father got a magazine just the other day with the cover blaming all the trouble we’re having with COVID-19 on capitalism’s “failure” and touting socialism as having more creative and effective solutions… unlike in the Soviet Union, North Korea, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, and every other chaos-and-starvation-riddled-war-torn socialist hellhole where the people totally weren’t practicing true socialism, of course.
To which my rebuttal is, “If socialism is so difficult that no one has ever been able to institute it, and if every one of these near-misses results in economic disaster and a massive body count…”
